I have been really thinking on stripping it, painting the bottom and then doing a paisley pattern with wood showing through or a branch pattern, a tree something along that line. I was worried that red would be too much since there is the red door and beam but I might do it anyway. I am trying to incorporate some other colors into the room so it doesn't get too red, like a colorful rug and some other pillows. It is a balancing act LOL!Diane Cransachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09163924503318866393noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118450460537757676.post-15521932322988552322015-04-07T08:48:40.418+02:002015-04-07T08:48:40.418+02:00And I can hardly wait either! And I can hardly wait either!Diane Cransachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09163924503318866393noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118450460537757676.post-67105188292598042322015-04-07T08:48:12.762+02:002015-04-07T08:48:12.762+02:00I konw, why is it I keep feeling the need to dress...I konw, why is it I keep feeling the need to dress them? Other than to make a place beautiful?

As for the coffee table, if it was mine, I would strip the varnish off and start new. I would paint the legs (first with underbody or gesso, then with acrylic paints that don't fade), all the way to, and including, the narrow strips of wood that frame the wood part of the table. That becomes like a frame for the top of the table. I would go with red, because you have a lot of red in your house. I'd also consider a red and black combo, like red for the frame and legs and black for the leg supports. Then for the table top, I would do a detailed painting on it, but also show a lot of bare wood! If it were my table, I'd do something with a lot of detail, possibly along the lines of playing card symbols because they have red and black. I'd draw everything out a few times. When I got something I liked, I'd put the design on the table using some sort of transfer sheet under the drawing (taping it down to the table). I'd use the same acrylics then use a water soluble poly (so it doesn't yellow). That's kinda the way my mind works, looking at furniture (most of the furniture in my own house I painted, leaving some bare wood, so it's just my taste). Having your own design on it makes it unique, and yours. There is nothing like details and textures in the rugs, furniture and paintings on the walls, to make a home super inviting and cozy.
